The boat is a punt which can be hired by a subscriber who has followed a short course, without the need for a proof of travel. The punt is propelled using an engine which is turned on and off using a personal smartcard belonging to the subscriber. The actual journey time is calculated and the cost is automatically deduced from the card holder's bank account.
