The inventive purification plant, best know as Biocatalisi, uses an extraordinary property of nature: the enormous self-purification ability of the ocean. The present purification system, based on the microbial antagonism, is characterised in that it uses bio-reactants including natural marine microorganism that are non-genetically manipulated and strongly activated by an osmo-enzymatic liquid substance best known as "biocatalyst". A "hyperactive" biomass, formed during the process, is able to mineralize a polluting organic fraction, even in the presence of inhibiting or toxic substances. The plant consists of four units: a Detoxifying Dynamic Equalisation (EqualDetox) plant, a unit for generating the osmo-enzymatic biocatalyst (hyperbaric biocolumn), a vortex biodegradation tank biocavitator) and a tank for performing a natural spontaneous clarification (static clarifier). A novel additional unit was further included: a "post-denitrification tank" that is integral with the plant. The inventive plan comprises a plurality of advantages over the traditional plants for the biological treatment of water. The first advantage is that it does not use chemical reactants for removing fecal coliforms due to the use of marine bacteria for fighting them in a natural manner, which results in a substantial saving. The reduced space and the fact that there is no production of waste sludges that would otherwise generate extra disposal costs, result in a higher economic benefit regarding the maintenance and construction thereof. Due to the particular characteristics of the hyperactive sludge, the same are not bonded and will not float in the clarifier, thereby discarding the need of additional mechanical systems for the removal thereof.
