PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head inspecting apparatus capable of nondestructively inspect the state of a pinhole in a tunnel barrier layer of a TMR element.;SOLUTION: Disclosed is the magnetic head inspecting apparatus having a function of evaluating the pinhole in the tunnel barrier layer of the TMR element through nondestructive inspection. This inspecting apparatus has a temperature control part 7 which sets ambient temperature of the TMR element, a bias current control part 5 which applies a current for measuring a resistance value, an element resistance setting part 6, and a CPU 9 which calculates a temperature coefficient. The CPU 9 decides the state of the pinhole of the tunnel barrier layer based upon the temperature coefficient.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
