PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simpler assaying method for assaying mitochondria oxidative phosphorylation decoupling activity of a substance.;SOLUTION: This method for assaying the mitochondria oxidative phosphorylation decoupling activity of a substance comprises (1) the first step where a substance to be examined is allowed to contact with cultured cells in which reduction type glutathione is exhausted previously, (2) the second process where the survival rate of the cells cultured in the first step is measured, (3) the third step where the survival rate measured at the second step is compared with the survival rate of a control whereby the mitochondria oxidative phosphorylation decoupling activity can be evaluated on the basis of the difference in the survival rates between that measured in the second process and that of the control.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
