PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for an electro-optical device which has ruggedness reduced on the surface of boundary areas between adjacent dots and surface of individual dots, an electro-optical device using the same, a method of manufacturing the same, a method of manufacturing an electro-optical device, and an electronic apparatus using the electro-optical device.;SOLUTION: A foundation layer 112 is formed so as to have recessed parts 123 or aperture parts 125 in the boundary areas between adjacent dots 121, so that the height of, for example, a shielding layer 115 formed by a color layer 114 can be reduced and the flatness of the surfaces of individual dots 121 and boundary areas between adjacent dots 121 can be secured. Since a blue color layer 114B is first formed on the bottom parts 124 of the recessed parts 123 or aperture parts 125, the blue color layer having a low average transmittance in a visible light wavelength region is formed more thickly than the green and red color layers 114, and the height of an entire device, for example, the shielding layer 115, can be reduced while enhancing a light shielding property, and contrast is improved.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
