PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high hardness stainless steel excellent in a mirror-finished surface property and a producing method therefor.;SOLUTION: The stainless steel contains, by mass, ≤0.05% C, 1.5 to 3.5% Si, ≤3.0% Mn, 6.0-12.0% Cr, 4.0-10.0% Ni, ≤6.0% Cu, 0.5-3.0% Ti, ≤2.0% (including 0%) Al and not more than ≤1.0% Mo, not more than ≤0.01% N and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. Preferably, this stainless steel has ≥59 HRC hardness and may contain ≤1.0% Nb and/or ≤1.0% Ta. Alternatively, the stainless steel may further contain ≤0.1% Zr. In the producing method for stainless steel of this invention, a steel having a composition as described above produced by a consumable electrode remelting method is subjected to a solution treatment at temperature of 1,000-1,150°C and an aging treatment at temperature of 400-550°C, thereby adjusting the stainless steel to a hardness of ≥59 HRC.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
