PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical data storing device which can reduce discontinuity of a phase between new data and data previously written without using edition gap. ;SOLUTION: This optical data storage device comprises a laser driver 36, an optical pickup unit including a laser coupled to the laser driver 36, a write-in clock generator 40 providing a read-back signal by an output of this optical pickup unit and supplying a write-in clock to the laser driver in write-in operation, a first means for obtaining first and second signals from a read-back signal, and a second means indicating a first read-back signal component generated by modulation of the laser by the first signal, indicating a second read-back signal component generated by external modulation of the laser beam by the second signal, further adjusting a phase of the write-in clock by phase difference between the first signal and the second signal.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
