PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for computing the number of optimal M&A object corporations, by which a corporation performing M&A can determine the number of M&A object corporations that expected profits are maximized, and to provide a computer program therefor.;SOLUTION: In the device, increment of frequency of success in engineering development is computed as a sum of a drift increment in the frequency of success in the engineering development and increment of the success frequency computed, on the basis of the Brownian motion and a dispersion of the frequency of success in the engineering development, based on the success frequency in the past engineering development. Increment in the total sales is computed as a sum of a drift increment in the total sales, on the basis of a dispersion of the Bayesian equation based on a normal distribution and an increment in the total sales computed, on the basis of the Brownian motion and dispersion of the total sales. The future total sales of an M&A-executing corporation is estimated, on the basis of the current total sales of an M&A-executing corporation, and the M&A-executing corporation computes the expected profits obtained by subtracting a total cost required for M&A therefrom, thereby computing the number of corporations of M&A object for maximizing the expected profits.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
