PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network equipment maintenance management method capable of knowing surely the absence of a user, and capable of executing automatically maintenance work at proper timing.;SOLUTION: The presence of the user in network equipment is detected by a human detection sensor and an illuminance sensor provided in the network equipment, and a firmware update request message is transmitted to a maintenance management server when the user is absent and an updating request implementation flag is 1. The maintenance management server checks whether a new firmware for the network equipment is registered in a firmware control database or not, and transmits an update confirmation message including downloaded side information of the new firmware, to the network equipment, when the firmware is old.
