PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flocculant excellent in flocculation performance capable of separating by efficiently flocculating, precipitating and filtrating insoluble impurities composed of insoluble ores and silicon or soil materials, which is suspended as a fine particle state or a colloidal state without hydrolyzing in the titanium black liquid or the white liquid, or metatitanic acid contained in the white liquid or metatitanic acid contained in a filtrate of a filter for recovery because of filtration leakage, and a method of flocculating black liquid and white liquid using the polymer flocculant.;SOLUTION: The flocculant is attained by a water-soluble polymer having an amidine structure unit prepared by subjecting a copolymer of (meth)acryl amide and (meth)acryl nitrile to the Hoffmann reaction, thereafter neutralizing with an acid, and heating. The method can enhance flocculation and precipitation by adding the flocculant to the black liquid or the white liquid in the midst of a titanium dioxide manufacturing process.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
