Use of an antagonist of angiotensin IV (A) for the preparation of a drug to treat or prevent Type II diabetes, insulin resistance or cardiovascular risk of metabolic syndrome, is claimed. An independent claim is included for a composition comprising (A), in combination with an excipient. ACTIVITY : Antidiabetic; Cardiovascular-Gen; Analgesic; Antianginal. MECHANISM OF ACTION : Angiotensin II AT1 receptor antagonist; Angiotensin II AT2 receptor antagonist. The angiotensin II AT1 receptor antagonistic effect of (A) was tested in human vascular smooth muscle cells. The result showed that (A) exhibited an ED 50value of 10-20 nm.
