Use of a peptide having a phytase activity, comprising an arginine in position 211 of its peptide sequence, where the position of amino acids are defined in relation to phytase peptide sequence of Debaryomyces castellii comprising SEQ ID NO: 1 (having a defined sequence of 461 amino acid, given in the specification), for the preparation of a nutritional additive or an animal feed, is claimed. Independent claims are included for: (1) use of an isolated non-genetically modified strain or a transformed host organism, for producing the peptide; (2) use of a protein mixture or a fermentation wort to be obtained by an isolated non genetically modified strain or by host organism, for producing the peptide; and (3) use of a peptide mixture having a phytase activity comprising the peptide.
