The device (4) has two ultrasound transmitters i.e. ultrasound whistles (6, 7), for transmitting characteristic parameters e.g. intensity, of ultrasounds based on an air pressure to which the transmitters are subjected during transmission of the ultrasounds, where one of the transmitters is not electrically connected. A processing electronic equipment (10) has a controller determining cross-wind by comparing the characteristic parameter of the received ultrasounds.
