Electric machine i.e. direct-current motor starter, controlling device for internal combustion engine of motor vehicle, has switch connecting voltage source, resistance, and machine in series, and another switch short-circuiting resistance
The device (10) has a switching unit e.g. electromagnetic relay type switch (11), for electrically connecting a voltage source e.g. battery (40), a power resistance (50), and an electrical machine i.e. direct-current motor starter (20), in series. Another switching unit e.g. electromagnetic relay type switch (12), is provided for short-circuiting the resistance. A control unit (13) activates the switching unit (11) to start the electrical machine, and activates the switching unit (12) in a predetermined situation.
