The arrangement (1) has a height tracking system with a transmitter for transmitting a measuring signal, and a detector for receiving signals reflected from a plant position, where the arrangement is arranged at a support arm (6). Information about height of an application/sensor head (10) relative to the plant position is derived from the reflected signals by an evaluating unit. The measuring signal output by a signal generator is directed within a preset measuring area approximately parallel to a surface of the plant position.
