The receiver (100) has a control device for synchronous detection, which causes a synchronous detection unit (104) to sequentially perform synchronous detection of received signals of global positioning determining system satellites. The control device causes the unit (104) to send a code phase and a carrier frequency of the satellites to a synchronous retaining unit (105). The unit (104) sends the phase and the frequency, before the unit (104) terminates the detection of the signals of one of the satellites, if the unit (104) detects the code phase and the frequency of the other satellite. An independent claim is also included for a method for receiving received signals of global positioning determining system satellites.
