The spreader, to scatter glued loose material on to a conveyor to form a mat, has a screw conveyor (10) with a conveyor screw (19a) within a housing (18) over a bunker. A drop shaft (5) is between the screw conveyor housing outlet (20) and the bunker filling opening (4). An insert (21) slides in the screw housing to alter the outflow position of the material. Two rotating brake rollers (12) form a brake unit (11) within the shaft.
