Placement jig for locating orthodontic appliance on tooth of patient, has jig locating areas shaped to conform to specific areas on teeth to hold orthodontic appliance of preset configuration and orientation
A jig unit (11) has several jig locating areas that are shaped to conform to areas on occlusal surface of each tooth (20), when teeth of patient are in initial and preset positions. An appliance receiving structure holds several orthodontic appliances of preset configuration in a fixed position and orientation relative to jig unit. A mounting surface of the appliance is made to contact with a mounting area on a facial or lingual surface of tooth, when the jig unit is registered on the tooth. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) orthodontic appliance and placement jig combination; (2) jig combination set; (3) custom placement jigs provision method; and (4) jig making apparatus.
