Substrate bars (3) are made from optical material. Each has adequate transparency for wavelengths filtered by the respective filter element (4). Any selected forming- and surface finishing process is used, to achieve dimensional accuracy imposed by an optical reception system. The bars are coated with different spectral filters (2), producing filter elements (4) for the optical filter assembly (5). Filter elements of adequate spectral quality and differing spectral characteristics are selected. They are assembled and fixed, to form the optical filter assembly. An independent claim IS INCLUDED FOR the multi-spectral filter assembly.
