The method involves determining gearbox system characteristics by varying a control parameter for the process in a roller type test stand (1) or an aggregate roller stand during a shifting process between gear stages. A characteristic recognition parameter is found for the control parameter. An algorithm that concatenates characteristic of the recognition parameter and the variation and simulates the variation, is determined. Another recognition parameter is determined for the simulated parameter. A weighting factor for quality of the process is determined from the latter parameter.
