The method involves exposing a gel pad on a mechanical compressive load, and clouding the gel pad by foaming. Transparency of the gel pad is determined, and the influenced compressive load is determined. The clouding of the gel pad is enabled by variation of foaming process, and preference measurements of the transparency for the given gel pad and the compressive load are performed, where the gel pad is made of polyurethane gel. Entire transparency is compared with reference measurements during application of the load to determine the load. An independent claim is also included for a device for measuring a compressive load.
