Brake (1) comprises an actuating mechanism with a first wedge mechanism producing a force acting in the radial direction and a second wedge mechanism which deviates the force into an axial direction. Preferred Features: The first wedge mechanism has wedge surfaces (11) inclined in the radial direction and the second wedge mechanism has a wedge surface inclined in the axial direction. The actuating mechanism is formed as an axially moving V-belt pulley (2a, 2b).
