A method and device for determining a susceptibility of a material against dynamic strain ageing is proposed, which, for example, for a non-destructive material testing of pressure can be inserted in the surrounding components of the power plant technology. The method comprises the steps of the pressing-in of a probe tip (16) of a material that is harder than the material to be tested, into a surface of a specimen (10) from the material to be tested; of the detecting of compressive force and depth of penetration of the probe tip (16); and of determining the susceptibility of the material to dynamic strain ageing of the detected force - path - curves.
