The LCD has image drive areas (410) at which the liquid crystals are controlled according to an image drive voltage applied between the image drive areas. Several viewing angle control areas (420) are defined in the bonded lower and upper substrates (411,412). The liquid crystals in the viewing angle control areas are controlled according to a viewing angle control voltage applied between the viewing angle control areas. An independent claim is included for method of driving LCD.
