Receiver for e.g. universal mobile telecommunications system, has computation unit to compute coefficients using selected areas of channel section, and equalizer to equalize signals using computed coefficients
The receiver (300) has a determining unit (301) to determine a channel section from received radio signals, where the channel section indicates the distribution of the signals over a set of transmission paths. An evaluation unit (302) evaluates areas of the channel section. A computation unit (303) computes coefficients using selected areas of the channel section, where the selected areas are selected based on the distribution of the signals. An equalizer (304) i.e. linear minimum mean square error equalizer, equalizes the signals using the computed coefficients. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method comprising equalizing a received radio signal using computed coefficients (2) a wireless communication system comprising a transmitter.
