The method involves actuating a basal blood pressure measurement button (11) at a blood pressure measuring device (1). The basal blood pressure is measured after actuation of the measurement button. The measured basal blood pressure and a measurement date are displayed on a display screen (15) of the measuring device. A data set for the measured basal blood pressure is automatically stored in a memory in the measuring device. An average value of the basal blood pressure values is calculated during actuation of a basal blood pressure average value key (13) at the measuring device.
