The method involves assigning participant addresses from a limited address pool to participants, who are newly added to a bus system recurses by everyone, where the participants communicates with each other over a bus line. A defined time is monitored before a transmit access to a bus with an actual participant address of a bus traffic. The participant addresses, which appear in the bus traffic, are monitored. The own participant address is automatically replaced by a free participant address during detecting of the own participant address in the bus traffic by the participant.
