The earth observation satellite (1) has a mirror telescope, three half space illuminators (6) arranged on a satellite housing (10) or a secondary mirror (3). A primary mirror (7) with three cameras (8) is arranged outside the satellite housing. The position of the half space illuminators are detected by the cameras. The primary mirror is aligned to define the secondary mirror depending on the detected position.
