The method involves detecting determination of an operational parameter (B) e.g. rail pressure (RP), to be incorrect if individual determination procedures have a deviation from an expected operational parameter value. A selectable time interval lies between the procedures. The value is selected from operational parameter value intervals, and number of the error detection-relevant individual determination procedures is adjustable. Signaling is performed during detection of an incorrect determination of the parameter. An independent claim is also included for a testing device for monitoring the determination of an operational parameter of a vehicle.
