Radical-free polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), e.g. useful for producing semifinished products, comprises PTFE particles having no detectable persistent peroxy radicals
Radical-free PTFE comprises PTFE particles having no detectable persistent peroxy radicals resulting from its polymerization or from radiochemical or plasmachemical modification. An independent claim is also included for producing radical-free PTFE by treating PTFE having persistent peroxy radicals with a sulfur compound having free electrons in an amount at least corresponding to the amount of radicals to be eliminated.
