The method involves generating and verifying object hypotheses from graphic data to pixels or image area with distance information existing in a verification stage. The graphic data is obtained from a monocular camera system. The object hypothesis such as stationary object is tested against the object hypothesis such as flat road by evaluation of the transformation of concerned image areas, observed between consecutive images, by detecting the distance that is covered by a road vehicle.
