The device has a strip retainer for inserting a test strip (12), and inner contact units that are arranged in the region of the strip retainer for contacting test electrodes of the strip. Another strip retainer (20) is formed in a closed separate housing, which has outer contact units that are electrically connected with the inner contact units and are designed for contacting device-sided counter contact units (16). The contact units (16) are connected with an evaluation and control circuit (14).
