The cable has a connecting device (10) designed for connection with a connecting socket (9) of a high-frequency (HF) surgical device (1) and connected to another connecting device (30) via another cable (20). The device (30) is designed for connection to an HF surgical instrument (2). A programmable memory (40) is connected with contact units of the device (10). The memory is designed such that adjusting mechanisms (3) of the HF surgical device are controlled in accordance with a stored data set to adapt device settings to the HF surgical instrument.
