A TV for simultaneously controlling contrast and brightness and a method thereof are provided to simultaneously control contrast and brightness of a screen according to black and white values set by a single control work in a short time, thereby promoting convenience of users. A method for simultaneously controlling contrast and brightness in a TV includes the steps of setting a screen control mode for simultaneous contrast and brightness control according to black and white values input by a user as the user selects a screen control item by using a remote controller(S302,S303), wherein a luminous bar graphic is displayed on a screen for the black and white value input(S304). If a user inputs black and white values(S305), the television moves a black bar in a luminance bar as much as the input black value and moves a white bar in the luminance bar as much as the input white value(S306). The television sets the input black and white values input by the user(S307). The television controls brightness by the set black value and controls contrast according to a difference value between the set black and white values(S308).
