Mass separating agents are provided to extract or separate selectively recalcitrant contaminants such as benzene, toluene, xylene, and chlorine-based compounds, a contaminant purifier using the mass separating agents is provided, an apparatus for purifying contaminated water comprising the contaminant purifier is provided, a method for purifying contaminated water using the apparatus is provided, and a method for regenerating the mass separating agents is provided. A mass separating agent for extracting contaminants of contaminated water comprises a natural oil, a paraffin oil, or hydrocarbon-based synthetic oils or mixtures thereof. A contaminant purifier comprises: a contaminated water inlet(10); a contaminant agitating and extracting tank(11) in which the mass separating agent comprising a natural oil, a paraffin oil, or hydrocarbon-based synthetic oils or mixtures thereof is contained, which performs a function of bringing contaminated water into contact with the mass separating agent, thereby distributing contaminants with the mass separating agent to extract the contaminants, and which has a screw agitator(12) mounted thereon; an oil-water separating pipe(14) on which a lipophilic material is mounted to separate agitated influent and the mass separating agent; a lower water tank(15) for performing interfacial separation of treated water and mass separating agent passing through the oil-water separating pipe; an outer circulation pipe(18) for circulating the interfacial separated mass separating agent to the contaminant agitating and extracting tank by the density difference; a discharge port(17) for discharging the interfacial separated treated water; and an air disperser(16) for dispersing air into the mass separating agent to remove contaminants contained in the mass separating agent.
