A method for deriving an optimum area suitable for an agricultural area by using a digital map is provided to increase the usability of the digital map and a GIS(Geographic Information System) by easily finding the optimum area suitable for the agricultural area based on various layers/attribute information of the digital map. A type of the optimum area suitable for the agricultural area is selected by a signal generated from an input part(S21). An object layer/evaluation rule setting part sets up more than two object layers and evaluation rules stored in a digital map database to derive the optimum area suitable for the agricultural area among a plurality of polygons included in the digital map(S22). A layer generator generates an overlapped layer overlapping the object layers. An attribute table generator generates a combination attribute table corresponding to the overlapped layer by combining an attribute table of the object layers stored in the digital map database(S23). A suitability calculator calculates suitability of each polygon of the overlapped layer from the combination attribute table according to the evaluation rules(S24). A digital map/optimum area map generator generates at least one of the digital map and an optimum area map reflecting the suitability for the agricultural area(S25).
