A ventilating/stirring culture tank comprising a longitudinal tubular container (2) capable of containing a culture fluid freely, a rotary shaft (3) supported in the container (2) coaxially therewith, stirring blades (4) fixed to the rotary shaft in order to stir the culture fluid, and a pipe (5) for feeding air into the container, wherein an opening (6) for putting a medium material and bacteria is provided at an upper part of the container. The ratio (HT/D) of the height (HT) to the inside diameter (D) of the straight body section (7) of the container is larger than 3.8 and baffle plates (8) for producing a turbulent flow in the culture fluid being stirred are provided on the inner circumferential wall of the container.
