A data exchange system, a terminal device, an information processing device, a function notification method and program, and a data writing method and program are provided to transfer data to the terminal device through a memory card in a data type to be surely decoded in the terminal device by reading available data type information, which is written by the terminal device, from the memory card. A first mounter(10) mounts the memory card(2). A first writer writes the data to the memory card mounted in the first mounter. A first reader reads the data stored in the memory card mounted in the first mounter. A decoder(16) decodes the data read by the first reader. A function information memory(14) stores the function information representing the data type to be decoded. A first controller(11) enables the first writer to write the function information stored in the function information memory to the memory card. The information processing device includes a second mounter, a second reader, a second writer, and a second controller. The second controller enables the second writer to write the data to the memory card in the data type represented in the function information read by the second reader if a data write request in the memory card is detected.
