Sick people and people in need of care are highly prone to decubitus. This is caused generally by inadequate seats or beds, especially mattresses. Furthermore, healthy people also require comfortable seats or beds. Until now, in the development of new mattresses, only the bearing pressure exerted on the mattress by at least a single body part of the person is measured. Sufficient conclusions about the suitability of the mattress cannot be drawn from these measurements. The aim of the invention is to be able to determine the harm caused by the mattress in deeper tissue layers of a person, using, for example, magnetic resonance tomography examinations of body parts at risk. The knowledge obtained therefrom is then to be used in the design and construction of mattresses.
