The method involves visually predetermining surface configuration of a component (1) to detect position and the form of opening before coating in a three-dimensional manner. A tool is positioned opposite to the component based on the configuration such that the tool sets the corresponding opening open through local removal of the coating material. The actual surface configuration of the component is detected three dimensionally. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for removal of coating material from the opening in a gas turbine component (2) a coated turbine blade.
