A solar cell (10) is provided with a light concentrating solar cell element (11) for generating power by performing photoelectric conversion to solar light (Ls), and a receiver substrate (20) whereupon the solar cell element (11) is mounted. A cover section (30) for protecting the solar cell element (11) by covering the element is formed on the receiver substrate (20). The cover section (30) is provided with a U-shaped sealing frame (31), which is formed on the surface of the receiver substrate (20) with an opening section (31s) and surrounds the periphery of the solar cell element (11) at a position separated from the periphery; a light transmitting cover plate (32) bonded to the sealing frame (31) for covering the solar cell element (11); and a resin sealing section (33) wherein a sealing region demarcated by the sealing frame (31) and the light transmitting cover plate (32) is filled with a sealing resin.
