The blowing device for a fold pocket (20) has at least one blast air nozzle installed in one side (4,7) of the fold pocket. The blast air nozzle is designed in such a way that an air flow created by it runs in the inlet direction of the fold pocket and generally parallel to the direction of movement of an entering material sheet (8). The blast air nozzle is in the form of a venturi nozzle. The blast air nozzle has a nozzle body with a blast air feed line through which blast air flows into nozzle chamber in order to emerge from a slotted outlet orifice. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a method for the supporting of material sheets entering a fold pocket by the provision of a blowing device; (B) a fold pocket equipped with a blowing device; and (C) a folding machine equipped with a blowing device for a fold pocket.
