Disclosed is a vaccine against malaria infections, based on recombinant adenoviruses viruses. The recombinant viral-based vaccine can be applied for immunization against Plasmodium infections, such as infections by P. falciparum. Codon-optimized circumsporozoite (CS) genes are disclosed (Seq Id No 4 and 6). Preferably, replication-defective adenoviruses are used, derived of serotypes (Ad11, Ad26, Ad34, Ad35, Ad48, Ad49 and Ad50) that encounter low titers of neutralizing antibodies.
