PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily producing a polymeric liquid crystalline composition exhibiting desired liquid crystal phase transition behavior.;SOLUTION: The method for producing the polymeric liquid crystalline composition comprises simply blending together at least two rigid and rodlike polymers each bearing chiral side chains while controlling their weight-average molecular weight, number-average molecular weight and molecular weight distribution depending on their blending ratio, wherein each of the polymers has a molecular weight distribution as the ratio:weight-average molecular weight/number-average molecular weight of 1.00 but 1.25 and is synthesized from a molecule identical in recurring unit.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
