PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a culture tool for attached diatom enabling the recovery of attached diatom in high density, prevention of the frequent maintenance and care of brush and prevention of the permanent bending of brush bristle and capable of recovering attached diatom in high efficiency. ;SOLUTION: The objective culture tool is provided with a vertically extending light-transmitting pipe 2, a feeding path 3 for feeding seawater into the pipe from the bottom, an overflow path 4 to discharge the overflowing seawater from the top, a brush 5 placed in the pipe and culturing the diatom attached to the brush, a squeezing ring 6 to squeeze and collect the diatom attached to the brush, an air cylinder 7 to vertically reciprocate the squeezing ring relative to the brush, a discharging path 8 to discharge seawater in the pipe from the bottom prior to the vertical reciprocation of the squeezing ring and a forcing spring to move the squeezing ring and return the filament 52 in horizontal state. The attached diatom squeezed off with the squeezing ring is recovered together with the overflowed culture water from the top of the pipe through the overflow path.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
