PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expandable beam for pier construction, and a construction method of a pier using this expandable beam for safely and quickly arranging a beam between columns of the pier, easy in quality control, friendly to an environment, contributing to the protection of resources, and performing installation work of the expandable beam in a short period of time by quickly extending the expandable beam.;SOLUTION: This expandable beam is composed of a plurality of girths mutually in parallel and respectively juxtaposed in the vertical direction by extending in the substantially horizontal direction, and a brace material arranged by crossing without mutually joining so as to respectively connect one end part of one girth and the other end part of the other girth, and one end part of the other girth and the other end part of one girth between the mutually adjacent two girths.
