PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a register mark reading device for a cutting plotter or a printer capable of reading the position of a register mark printed on a media surface by a register mark reading sensor without taking time and missing of reading.;SOLUTION: This register mark reading device is provided with a high-speed traveling means 60 and a low-speed traveling means 70 for making a register mark reading sensor 50 move at a high speed with above a skip mark 30 and move at a low speed until above a register mark 20 printed on the surface of a media 12 nearby the skip mark 30, after making a mark reading sensor 40 read the position of the skip mark 30 of which the size is read easily on the surface of the media 12 move at a high speed until above the skip mark 30 with the register mark reading sensor 50.
