PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous secondary battery which exhibits a small irreversible charge and discharge capacity at initial cycles even if an active material layer is more highly densified. PSOLUTION: Composite graphite particles organized by spherical graphite particles and binder graphite satisfy either of the following requirements (a) to (g): (a) the spherical graphite particles are at least partially exposed on the surfaces of the composite graphite particles; (b) incomplete laminated structures of the spherical graphite particles are provided in the vicinity of the surfaces of composite graphite particles; (c) when median diameters of the spherical graphite articles and composite graphite particles are set up to be a and b, respectively, a ratio of a to b: c=a/b is to be 0.93 or more; (d) the graphite particles has a Raman R value of 0.15 to 0.25, an average circularity of 0.85 or above, a tap density of 0.87 to 1.25 g/cmSP3/SP, a BET specific surface area of 2.5 to 8 mSP2/SP/g; (e) a volume of pores of 0.01 to 2 m is to be 0.05 to 1 mL/g; (f) a quantity of CO radicals existing on the surface specified by the BET specific surface area is set up to be 1.15 to 5 mol/mSP2/SP; (g) when a specific electrolytic solution is dropped on an electrode made by using the composite graphite particles, the average number of hours where the electrolytic solution completely disappears from the surface of the electrode is 180 seconds or less.
