PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive tool for friction stir processing for titanium or a titanium alloy, and to provide a method for producing a friction stir processed product composed of titanium or a titanium alloy for inexpensively performing joining or quality improvement of titanium or a titanium alloy using the tool.;SOLUTION: The tool for friction stir processing for titanium or a titanium alloy is obtained by subjecting the surface of a tool for friction stir processing composed of a nickel alloy to surface treatment by fluorine ion implantation. The fluorine ion implantation is performed at a pulse frequency of 1 to 2 kHz, at room temperature, and at an implantation time of 150 to 400 min, preferably of 300 to 400 min. Using the tool for friction stir processing, titanium or a titanium alloy is subjected to friction stir processing, thereby producing a friction stir processed product.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
