PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition enabling to provide an embossed tone design finish coating and enabling to easily form an embossed pattern even for a complicated embossed pattern on a flat base material, particularly an inorganic flat base material, and a base material finish-coated with the embossed tone design using the coating composition, and a coating method to apply the embossed tone design finish on the surface of the base material. PSOLUTION: The photo-curable coating composition enabling to provide the embossed design finish coating comprises (a) a photo-curable (meth)acrylate compound and/or a photo-polymerizable unsaturated polyester, (b) a photo-polymerization initiator and (c) a silicone polymer non-compatible with the component (a). The base material coated with the embossed tone design finishing can be obtained by a process composed of (A) applying the composition on the flat surface of the base material to form a convex-concave embossed pattern and (B) irradiating the coated face with an electron beam or light to form cured coated film with the convex-concave embossed pattern. The coating method applying the embossed tone design finish on the surface of the base material is carried out by the processes (A) and (B). The composition can easily form the complicated convex-concave embossed pattern on the surface of the flat base material. The coated base material has a posh convex-concave embossed pattern with a high quality feeling. The coating process can efficiently produce the coated base material by the method.
